4 Common Gas Grill Problems You Would Want To Avoid

Gas grills are pretty reliable in the kitchen scene. It can get its job done in no time at all. Many people prefer using gas grills as they are easier to use. Moreover, they tend to last longer than ordinary charcoal grill.

But just like any other functional equipment in the kitchen, this can also be prone to problems. If you know what those common problems are, you can do some preventative measures that can help keep your grill in top shape.

1. The grates and the burner is rusting or corroding

Only stainless steel materials can last long without rusting or corroding. If your grill is made up other materials such as cast iron, expect it to rust faster. Replacing the grate and the burner is advisable if you cannot save it from corroding. There are actually some appliance treatments that can stop the oxidation process of metal.

But to avoid this problem, you have to keep it away from water or moisture. You would want to use water proof grill covers to keep away external elements. Also clean the grate and the burner regularly. Make sure you remove excess fat drippings if there are any. Do not use harsh chemical solutions as they can only encourage oxidation.

2. The burner fails to light up properly

This is a common problem not only by gas grills but also by gas ranges. You have to regularly clean the venturi of this kitchen equipment in order to remove any obstruction in the gas flow. Make sure the propane tank or the natural gas unit is also supplying gas properly. That means you should check the gas source and the valves and find out if they have been attached properly. Also remove stuck oil or debris in the holes of the burner. Poke them with a small rod.

3. The grill is producing a whistling sound. This happens when you frequently use the high temperature setting of your grill. You would want to check the orifice of the machine regularly to see signs of deterioration. If there are any, replace it immediately to avoid this problem.

4. The flame turns off when you switch it to low setting

This is actually pretty normal especially when your propane tank is running out of gas. But in order to avoid this, always preheat the grill. Crank up the temperature to the highest setting. Also regularly clean the venturi to make sure that nothing is blocking the flow of gas.

Maintenance plays a major role in the life of your gas grill. You should regularly maintain your gas grill in order to avoid problems.
