The Zojirushi EB-CC15 electric grill is an indoor unit made for barbecuing year round. You won’t be able to tell the difference between food grilled on the Zojirushi and an outdoor grill. It consists of a 12.25×18.12-inch heavy plastic base that remains cool to the touch for easy handling, a 9.5x 2.75-inch grilling surface that is wonderfully non-stick, a shallow stainless steel drip pan, and a removable power cord with variable heat control dial. 1300 watts of heat is what Zojoriushi can administer, which will cook even the thickest steaks.
The grill is easily prepared for use by inserting the drip pan into the base and then placing the grill plate on top and attaching the temperature probe. This unit has the heaviest grill plate I have seen; the competitors models are no where near as heavy duty. Assembled, the grill is 3″ tall and feels very rugged.
This grill will heat up to maximum temps in just 10-15 minutes. A temperature indicator light cycles on and off during use. The adjustable control dial has three settings: low, medium and high, with temperatures ranging between 176 and 410 degrees Fahrenheit. Although it’s not possible to set an exact temperature, the highest setting works well for most grilling chores, from chicken or steak to hamburger patties, and delivers the much desired customary sear marks as it cooks foods to perfection. The high setting proved a little too hot for grilling delicate seafood and vegetables, as well as any foods coated in a thick barbecue sauce. So make sure you leave the heat around 3/4 throttle to cook foods like this and turn them on the grill frequently to avoid charring.
The Zojirushi EB-CC15 cooked with very little smoke and the nonstick cooking surface released foods with no sticking. The aluminum cooking plate delivers heat to every inch of the grill so there are no hot spots, which can result in ill-matched cooking, a common problem with lesser quality electric grills.
We were quite pleased with the fast, efficient cooking delivered by the Zojirushi EB-CC15. The size of this grill means that you can cook four to six hamburgers, chicken breasts or pork chops. Although the EB-CC15 is a little smaller than some competitors models, you’ll find the quick, consistent heating ideal for smaller batches. The grill contains about 121 square inches of available cooking space.
Cleaning this grill is beautifully easy because of the non-stick surface. Just brush or wipe with a damp cloth and your grill is clean. The drip tray and plastic base are dishwasher safe, but also clean easily in hot, soapy water if you wish.
Overall, we are greatly impressed with the Zojirushi EB-CC15 electric grill. We give it 4.5 out of 5 stars, with a half-point deducted only because of the small con that the grilling surface is not a little larger. This is one tremendous grill!
