Are Camp Chef cast iron pots and pans good or bad?
Don’t know the brand but cast iron cookware is usually very good and very cheap.
The reason it’s cheap is because (1) some people don’t like how heavy it is, and (2) most people don’t know how to season it, a simple technique that will make it behave like a non-stick pan. See www.wokshop.com or the Lodge site if you need to learn this. It’s not hard.
The reason it’s good is because it heats evenly, it can get very very hot with no ill effects, and it stays hot a long time. This makes it good for searing meat, and for stir frying at the high temperatures that Chinese restaurants use. And of course it’s the traditional pan for baked cornbread.
Because it changes temperature only slowly, it’s not a good choice for cooking a finicky sauce that must be heated and cooled quickly.
